My glass shall not persuade me I am old, So long as youth and thou are of one date; But when in thee time's furrows I behold, Then look I death my days should expiate. For all that beauty that doth cover thee Is but the seemly raiment of my heart, Which in thy breast doth live, as thine in me: How can I then be elder than thou art? O, therefore, love, be of thyself so wary As I, not for myself, but for thee will; Bearing thy heart, which I will keep so chary As tender nurse her babe from faring ill. Presume not on thy heart when mine is slain; Thou gavest me thine, not to give back again. by William Shakespeare

I arrived really late for today's Virtual Art Opening, sorry about that, but had a chance to look at the gallery of Art Opening artists and try out the new virtual opening setup. I think it goes very smoothly and really like this idea. I'm not sure how most art lovers will go for the idea of online art openings but, especially when we get a chance to see art works from as far away as India right in front of our eyes, I think it's great. I'm not much of a computer buff myself but am trying to learn from your experience. Keep up the good work!

Great site you've got here. It took a few visits for me to begin to see the very unique and truly enjoyable aspects, but now I find something new every time I visit; I'm beginning to feel a kinship here, like minds, good spirits. The gallery pictures show a wonderful public endeavor, and the writing in the web-zine is really refreshingly human and intelligent. Keep it up. One critique - artwork in the webzine is..too small! :-) Ta.

Hello to Roger and everyone at the Millennium Art Gallery! What a wonderful site - it's my first chance to sit down and have a really good look through The Medium Webzine. And what a surprise when I clicked on this issues child artists, to find my son, Matthew as one of them! A job well done to everyone involved in putting together such a variety of 'voices' through this site. The range of ages of the artists, and their mediums, certainly adds an interesting dimension to the issues. Upon seeing the content of the Medium Webzine, I am now inspired to make a few of my own submissions (poetry) in the very near future. (As an aside, I have recently self-published/crafted my first book, in which Matthew and his younger brother, Tyler, have contributed illustrations). Keep up the great job! Congratulations to Rick as well for his contributions in bringing this all together.

I am very impressed with the children - some of this work (play?) thoroughly rivals the impact and depth of some of our most notorious 'serious artists'! And that's just what I believe. That aside, I also believe that Doust and Dutzi are enormously important, I'm sure. Your gallery is extraordinary!

I think with the Millennium there is a shift that is happening that is not only physical but spiritual. A polar magnetic shift is manifesting on the physical plane which is in turn, a mirror image of what is happening to all humans on a spiritual level. (Isn't it funny that the Polar Magnetic Shift in anigram is PMS for mother earth)? I think that every human body is a micro-cosm of the macro-cosm which is Mother Earth. We humans have all the same minerals, chemicals and water/matter/make-up as Earth. The earth is begining to change and evolve as we are, and like an onion we are discovering more layers of ourselves and of the earth. The earths layers will manifest themselves as different planes of existence which will be revealed to all of us when we are ready to see them. The lines between death and what we consider to be life will become blurred and indecipherable. Because of this what we know as death, aging and disease will also have to be re-defined. If we can open our minds and let go of programmed thought it will become easier for us to see these separate planes that exist around us. This is evident in Animatic Art..... That's my theory and I'm sticking to it. :-).... That's all Folks.

Our Oneness is profound..... All people that have ever died on this earth still live. They are part of our Oneness..... All people alive now on this earth. They are part of our Oneness..... Nine billion lifetimes of conscious experience make up our collective being..... This experience is our heritage and our living substance..... A deep and rich matrix of experience, and an awakening understanding and wisdom...... This is who we are...... Nothing is lost. Every moment six billion more rivers of experience flow into our collective ocean of consciousness...... These lifetimes are our living resource and the source of our gradual progress towards higher and higher states of being...... All is preserved in our collective memory...... Our evolving being is near ready to emerge into the light of collective awareness. The awakening is near...... All harmful behavior’s, all destructive events, all individual persecutions, all selfish and hateful actions inflicted upon or experienced need to be forgiven...... Our past encases us like a butterfly’s chrysalis, sealing us off from the creative source of our being...... Our past, of ignorance of and disconnectedness from our collective being, is the source of suffering and alienation we experience. It is also the necessary process and substance of transformation...... We are the sum total of all individual experiences. To move ahead in our evolution, to become consciously whole, we need to first embrace all aspects of ourselves, with compassion and forgiveness...... Then, all manifestations of our self-destructive individual ignorance will be transformed into manifestations of our collective self-loving awareness...... To become aware of our wholeness and magnificent Oneness is the blessing we will all experience, as we burst forth into the light of understanding and Peace on Earth...... Blessings...... Yes, I think creative people can change the world, if they work together. And, if creative people can’t work together then the outlook is bleak indeed. We cannot hope that any existing spiritual, philosophic or governmental structure in this world will do it for us. They have all tried and failed to create a global harmony. People throughout the world generally respect and consider well what artists have to say. Because of this, creative people everywhere have a responsibility to act for a better world. I think it is time for all creative people to "come together" with a common purpose and to work together on building a collective vision of a peaceful and harmonious world. If suffering, hate, misery and self-destruction is to stop on this planet, before extinction of our species occurs, then creative people may be our last hope! A central theme within "Animatism" is that, in a very literal sense, "We Are One"; approximately six billion points of consciousness on one living, creative entity. And so, to create from a place of this cultivated awareness is the quintessence of being human. Message From the Elders of the Hopi Nation “You have been telling the people that this is the Eleventh Hour. Now you must go back and tell the people that this is The Hour. And there are things to be considered: Where are you living? What are you doing? What are your relationships? Are you in the right relation? Where is your water? Know your garden. It is time to speak your Truth. Create your community. Be good to each other. And do not look outside yourself for the leader. This could be a good time! At this time in history; we are to take nothing personally. Least of all ourselves. For the moment that we do, our spiritual growth and journey comes to a halt. The time of the lone wolf is over. Gather yourselves! Banish the word struggle from your vocabulary. All that we do now must be done in a sacred manner and in celebration. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for” From the Elders of the Hopi Nation Oraibi, Arizona

I've ventured down to the gallery a number of times while it still retained a physical form and to say the least, I was always impressed with the callibre and vision of the artwork that I saw there. I just want to say thanks to the people who made it happen. It is great to see that the Millennium lives on in cyberspace. It can draw you in , it’s friendly…I was impressed by the strong focus on ‘getting it out there’- not just to the immediate community, even though the shows had such a casual focus …Near the end, when I saw how many paintings were hanging -like all over the place, I realized it totally fit; Intense creativity and focus.”

I was so sad when I heard of the fire; the destruction of something so creative....That sort of senseless stuff affects a lot of people. I saw Rick on TV and I was amazed at his taking it in, in a holistic way, wanting to manifest something positive from it...I thought, right on! ...at least as a photographer I still have my negatives; but a painter, you can never have the same emotion - the same experience - it’s just gone. My four year old son even had a sense of the gallery as a place to go, a friendly place; he was shocked when we walked past the rubble.

I had a few hours of bewilderment, wandering up and down the drive, hardly even thinking about the possible end to the work I had been doing: the most rewarding and potential-filled work I had found in years. My heart ached for my friends who had lost irreplacable works of art, many of which I had utterly fallen in love with. Ultimately, I feel I am trully watched over and blessed by my associations here at the Millennium Art Gallery, as I am inspired by the strenght and committment of the artists and volunteers who are part of the Animatic movement. These relationships and the vision of a creative and unified global community cannot be destroyed as easily as the gallery was.

I would like to speak of my experiences and thoughts of the November 4th fire at the Millennium Art Gallery. I woke up with wide eyes in the darkness of my house...thinking that perhaps it was 6:00am or 7:00am and the sun would be coming up soon, I got up, had a shower and then turned on the computer to check the time. 3:45am... Wide awake and not prepared to go back to bed, I decided to go down to the local 24hr store to pick up some eggs for an early morning breakfast. As I walked down Grant ST, I heard sirens upon sirens upon sirens. I looked north to see a great billowing cloud of smoke...so huge that I was confused as to whether I was looking at a storm coming or the vaporized debris from an enormous fire. When I got to the "Drive" I saw flashing lights away up the street. I thought to myself, jokingly, what if the gallery is on fire??? Something was telling me..."go check it out". I walked on. I was standing in front of the gallery, watching it being engulfed in flames before I even realized where I was at. My heart dropped to my toes. It was such an awesome sight to witness. The day before, the gallery had looked so solid. 12 hours later it was nothing but a pile of rubble. It was a blow to the Arts community of Vancouver but ultimately, as I'm sure we will see, a neccessary one. It is far from over for all of us here. As Barnum and Bailey once said and many others thereafter... "The Show Must Go On!" We are One Jake Hokanson

I wish to express my appreciation and thanks to all the people who have called, e-mailed or sent a kind thought in the direction of myself and the people involved in the Commercial Drive gallery. The fire and the destruction of the Millennium Art Gallery's Commercial Drive exhibition site has been a shock to us all. Just to let you know, we are all ok and the Millennium Art Gallery is still in business. We have already re-established business operations in a temporary location. Our corporate phone#: (604) 255-2722, is active and our internet site is open for guests and members to view and to purchase art. Not immediately, but, in the near future, we will re-establish a public gallery for exhibiting the artworks of the Animatic Art Movement in Vancouver. Thank you again for your support and best wishes. We are One!

I'm really proud of what you have brought to our neighborhood. I often see passers by peaking through the windows and taking a breath at the glory of color exhibited within. The gallery is truly a tourist attraction on the corner of a very busy street. Thank you also for hosting meditation sessions which refresh and enhance me from the inside out. The gallery brings an excitement and sense of hope for a world which moves so quickly past the doorway. Thanks to the worker bees - Jake, Rog and Rick for holding the vision of a artful purposeful planet. Janit

Welcome to the new Millennium AG site. We will be fine tuning it over the next few days and then will publish a calendar of dates and times that artists will be available for chatting with. Thank You.
